I know his campaign never goes anywhere, but the man is just fantastic. I have had the privilege of hearing him speak a few times and I can’t even describe to you what an amazing experience it is just to listen to him. This pic is from one of the anti-cloning rallies in Missouri last year against Amendment 2.
Apparently he participated in the Values Voter Debate this evening that I completely forgot about. The American Family Association had live video of it and it completely slipped my mind. I tuned into it a few minutes ago and a few commentators, including Dr. Rich Scarborough and Phillis Schlafly, were discussing the debate which every top ranked candidate skipped out on, including Fred Thompson. It seems that Mike Huckabee won by a very large margin. I’m sure more information about this will be available in the near future.

You’re certainly right that there’s no describing the experience of hearing Keyes speak; I heard him in ’96 speak to the Texas State GOP convention, and again in 2006 when he announced his run for the U.S. Senate in Illinois. He’s that rare breed, a true orator.
I have very mixed feelings about his run. He’s a great speaker, and he’s right on all the issues. But he can’t seem to get the kind of support a winner has to get.
OTOH, neither can anyone else (i.e.: Hunter, Tancredo, Brownback, Huckabee) who’s right on the life issues. This is such a depressing election campaign.
I hear you there! I was originally excited when Sen. Browback announced his candidacy. But since neither he nor any other decent candidate has managed to pick up steam it’s been really disappointing.
