I don’t think it matters how handicapped you are or how sick. You always succeed in something. God gave us each a gift. –Garvan Byrne March 20, 1973 – April 16, 1985
After watching these videos and hearing the words of the delightful young Garvan Byrne, terminally ill and handicapped from birth, I am reminded of something Fr. Jaques Philippe wrote in his book Searching for and Maintaining Peace:
In all suffering there is a germ of life and of the resurrection, because Jesus is there in person.
There is a shorter, edited version, but I do suggest watching the entire thing if you have time:
It is so hard to believe that he was only 11 years old when this interview was conducted. The whole world should know about this extraordinary boy!
I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. (Mt.11:25, Lk. 10:21)

What an inspiration! Thanks, Chelsea.
Well, that helps put things in perspective, doesnt it? At age 11 he was more of a man than most of us will ever be.

I shall never forget Garvin Byrn’s story and testimony of God’s love for him and all of us. What an exceptional Child and he used his gifts and talent to reach many people & win them to Christ. Thank you for posting Garvin’s story. So special. I never met my grandmothers and only one of my grandfather’s who died when I was 5 & 1/2 yrs old. I hope to meet them and the ones before them too after I meet Jesus and Garvin to thank them both.
I first saw this video about a week ago and have watched it several times over the last few days. I was so impressed by Garvan, He was a very special child of God’s. I am so inspired by his expression of his faith. I too am trusting in the same Jesus who was Garvan’s special friend. Jesus is also my special friend. I am looking forward to meeting Garvan in Heaven.
Wow! God is amazing.
This is wonderful…how God in the person of Jesus and in the form of Bread in Holy Communion communicates to us who God is through an eleven year old child. Garvan is a saint! There is no need for miraculous interventions that are needed in the process of canonization. The fact that Garvan shares his faith life in the way he did at his age is already a miracle…God exploding his love and goodness through an eleven year old….I congratulate his parents for the gift of Garvan.
I am Brazilian and I am writing now from Brazil. After watching this video, I must say that Garvan truly inspired me! He is more alive today then he could ever be. His words are full of joy and conviction. He is a special child of God who made his short live here on earth a gift to others. I bet he is helping many people from Heaven through his intercession. God Bless you Garvan Byrne for your legacy, your prayers and your wonderful exemple!
How profound! How many people can sum up their faith as Garvan does! Truly a saint!
Garvan’s life is unfathomable miracle. Christ gifted him with special charisms. May his intercession always be with us.
Hi There,
Could you please let me know if there’s any Foundation Project in Garvan’s Memory!
Kind regards
Y Funmi Daniel..
After hearing his testimony I have such a love in my heart for Garvan and long to meet him one day. His short life was so inspiring and it ministers to me everytime I hear it, which have been many for I never tire of hearing it. It has encouraged me in so many ways in my walk with the Lord Jesus.
