Except for Newsweek, the world is beginning to take note of the youthfulness of the pro-life movement. Not only are the majority of marchers at the March for Life in D.C. every year high school and college aged, but lately we have even seen pre-teens get in on the pro-life activism action. No doubt this baffles some people who see abortion as a “reproductive choice” that gives young people (who just can’t control their sexual desires) the “freedom” to have meaningless sex without limit or consequence. Who wouldn’t want that?! But one commenter on this post at CMR perfectly explains why young people aren’t exactly fans of abortion:
When you realize that a significant portion of your generation was killed off because of someone elses selfishness, it tends to have an effect on you…
Many in my age group realize that being born after 1973 means we are lucky to be alive.
It’s pretty sobering to know that when I was conceived, my mother had the legal choice to have me killed before I was born. I am certain that this is why a growing number of people my age and younger are so actively pro-life. Any one of us could easily have been one of those 50 MILLION children who have lost their lives to abortion in the last 37 years. So it is not hard for us to see that children conceived today need our voices and our help.

How I hope in and pray for these young ones. My older generation has suffered a great loss as well: the loss of countless poor souls to the demons of relativism and other modern heresies. I can never read these words from Romans without trembling: “So they are without excuse; for although they knew God they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man… Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.” Romans 1:20b-25
