Westboro Baptist Lawsuit and Freedom of Speech

I hate to say it, but, as much as I love our military and think what the Westboro Baptist church is doing is totally beyond contempt, I think I agree with Megyn Kelly on this one. She brings up an excellent point (though Bill hardly lets her make it) about abortion clinic protesters and how this case could have serious freedom of speech implications. Plus, I just love it when people tell Bill he’s wrong.

  1. That was amusing.

    Megyn won, hands down.

Which is sort of too bad, given the underlying subject.

  2. It was interesting listening to this as if they were debating the abortion protesters. She is very right. If the supreme court rules that people can’t say “vile hateful things” and our signs of “Women regret abortions” are vile and hateful, then we’ll no longer be able to stand there.

I think what this church is doing is horrid, but I don’t trust the court to make the decision. Especially since any court/judge could apply this in any way he saw fit. There has to be another way to stop these people from harming the families of killed soldiers.
