I seriously wonder if pro-choice people ever really listen to themselves speak.
On C-Span Thursday morning I caught Sen. Barbara Boxer arguing with Sen. Orin Hatch against an amendment to codify a rule the Bush Administration put in place adding the “unborn child” as a patient under SCHIP. She claimed that because SCHIP already offered coverage to all pregnant women that unborn children would be automatically covered in the program and complained that Bush’s rule “injected the abortion debate into the bill” and, by adding the “unborn child” language with “no mention of the mother”, unfairly separated a woman from her unborn child. She said:
“How you would ever separate the pregnant woman from the child she’s carrying goes against nature”
This is rich coming from a woman who supports allowing a woman to legally have the child she’s carrying dismembered and sucked out of her womb…
Sen. Boxer, abortion is the ultimate separation of a woman and her unborn child.
But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child, a direct killing of the innocent child, murder by the mother herself.

Oh — antilogic brainstorm! I think I see where she’s coming from.
It’s “against nature” to separate the WOMAN from the CHILD, but the most natural thing in the world to separate the CHILD from the WOMAN.
It all comes down to whether or not the woman wants the child or not. Once the woman becomes at all apprehensive about the pregnancy they decide there is absolutely no connection between her and the life growing inside of her. The child instead becomes some undesirable foreign object – an obstacle that may need to be eliminated.
